Once upon a time in a Kindergarten class on Wilshire and Beverly Glen, the students of Sinai Temple Religious School sat in a circle listening closely as Rabbi Schuldenfrei told them of the "Golem'" and Chanukah miracles. Our kindergarten class brims with storytelling, Jewish music lessons with Schlock Rock, and Middle Eastern instruments. Students learn through creative cooking, dance, and endless art projects. Basic Hebrew vocabulary and Hebrew songs are an integral part of the kindergarten year. Our kindergarten students learn to recite the Shema, bless the Shabbat candles, and say Motzi over the Challah. In kindergarten we celebrate being Jewish!

What on earth is a wimple? How high do I hold the Havdalah candle? Is falafel extra fun to eat on Friday's? Through educational games, we teach the magic of Judaism. Our first graders learn to sing 'the four questions' for Pesach, the blessings for Chanukah, the special footsteps and words to the Amidah - the focal point of our daily prayers, and of course, when Israel became a state (in 1948!). Engaging stories provide our students a gateway to the Bible. Holiday celebrations are the crowning jewel in this year of celebration!

Recognition of the Hebrew letters and words through "Bet Birthday Bashes" and "Super Samech Sundays" open second graders up to the world of Hebrew reading. The second grade curriculum eases students into the more demanding secondary grades with an established excitement for their future education.
