As we continue to celebrate our 100th anniversary organized by the Centennial Celebration Committee, under the leadership of Co-Chairs Julie Platt and Irwin S. Field, the effort to develop our synagogue’s vision, Sinai: A Center for Jewish Life and Learning, is well underway!

Funds raised through the Centennial Campaign will ensure that our vision becomes a reality by establishing a “Fund for the Future” to support the enhancement of successful programs already in place (e.g. our schools, the Douglas Family Early Childhood Center, Sinai Akiba Academy and Sinai Temple Religious School; ATID, the Orden Family Friday Night Live and the Goldstine Family/ Rabbi Jacob Kohn Lecture Series) as well as provide funding for expanded programming designed to elevate Jewish learning and living for all ages. To ensure that our synagogue is physically equipped to truly become Sinai: A Center for Jewish Life and Learning and always present a welcoming environment to our members, a portion of the Centennial Campaign funds raised will support both renovation of our existing facilities and needed expansion of our often fully utilized physical plant. In fact, some of the renovation plans, including the remodeling of the scholastic wings on the third and fourth floors to better serve our youngest congregants, are already in the works!

The Centennial Campaign committee has been working diligently with Rabbi Wolpe, not only to secure the large number of pre-committed gifts, but to spread the word about our plans the future via small gatherings where Rabbi Wolpe has been able to expand upon his vision.

There are many people hard at work on the Centennial Campaign committee, which is still in formation. They are: Kirk Douglas and Ruth Ziegler, Honorary Chairs; Tom Flesh, Campaign Chair; Abner D. Goldstine, Past President and Associate Chair; Jackie Ahdout and Ebrahim Simhaee, Campaign Co-Chairs; Joel Weinstein, Vice President Development; Fred Delijani, Roz Goldstine, Alice Lainer, Lisa Pompan, Ruben Poplawski and Jina Rezvanpour, Steering Committee; Dr. Edward Kamenir, Michael Koss, Dr. Barbara Levey and Dr. Gerald Levey, Advisory Committee. Many members have already embraced the opportunity to join our Centennial Campaign; to date, we have over $13 million in commitments! So while we still have a ways to go in order to meet our goal, we are off to a great start! We invite you, to join those visionary families who understand the need and the importance of creating Sinai: A Center for Jewish Life and Learning and its benefits to our Jewish community.
