Youth & Family Engagement Coordinator

The Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator is the chief creator and implementor of engagement experiences for children ages 0-18. In partnership with clergy and stakeholders, this position creates and actualizes a dynamic vision for meaningful engagement at Sinai Temple. This position’s portfolio includes oversight of diverse social and educational opportunities for: Dor Chadash: families with toddlers through 3rd grade, Kadima (children in grades 4-7) and Teens (grades 8-12).

Within the Teen Center, this position manages two flagship programs:

  • Chai School- a post B’nai-Mitzvah educational experience offering specialty courses designed to strengthen teens’ Jewish identities and connect them to each other.
  • David and Angella Nazarian Youth Leadership Program: a unique leadership development course designed to instill in teens a love of Israel and help them develop their voices as ambassadors for the Jewish people.

The position oversees all Youth Department programming, relationship building, marketing, recruitment, evaluation and education. S/he supervises part-time Youth Advisors, manages the departmental budget and is integrally involved in cultivating development opportunities for these populations.

Dor Chadash (Families with toddlers-3rd grade):

  • Create and plan monthly “Shabbat In the Park”
  • Create and plan unique age appropriate programs related to Jewish holidays and
  • Create a Dor Chadash Leadership Board to act as ambassadors for Sinai Temple both internally and externally.

Kadima (grades 4-7):

  • Create, plan, and lead monthly programming for 4th-7th graders as a recruitment pipeline for Teen Center.
  • Create a Leadership Council to transition into Teen Council.

Teen Center:

  • Build and nurture relationships with youth, teens, and parents, motivating them to engage with Sinai Temple.
  • Liaison with Sinai Temple Religious School and Sinai Akiba Academy to create pipeline and recruit teens to participate in Teen Center opportunities, including Chai School, Nazarian Fellowship, Kadima, AIPAC Policy Conference and more.
  • Create an annual calendar of diverse programming for Sinai Temple
    • Facilitate two programs per month per group during the school
    • Facilitate monthly Leadership Council meetings and mentor teen
  • Plan and implement the annual Camp Ramah Teen
  • Plan and implement meaningful High Holy Day teen
  • Lead Sinai Temple teen delegation to the AIPAC Policy
  • Supervise, design, and approve all marketing materials for teen center including teen emails, social media, flyers and more.
  • Manage departmental budget, including subdepartments Chai School and Nazarian
  • Hire and supervise supplemental event staff as
  • Maintain donor relationships and apply for grants when and where
  • Allocate scholarships when
  • Plan and teach educational curriculum for classes, retreats and

Chai School:

  • Teach Chai School

David and Angella Nazarian Youth Leadership Program:

  • Plan and supervise annual Nazarian Israel
  • Create and supervise new Nazarian Fellow perks and
  • Present annual Nazarian Fellow report to
  • Create educational and leadership track (once a month sessions) for Nazarian youth leaders

Position Qualifications

  • Love of youth and experience working with
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency of main social media apps (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat)
  • Working knowledge of digital and social media

$55,000-70,000 (depending on candidate’s experience)
