JACOB GOWN

5TH GRADE TEACHER AND MUSICAL SPECIALIST

My name is Jacob Gown and I’m the Director of Musical Engagement. I’m also the head teacher for 5th grade. I was born on Sivan 30, 5738. The number 30 is important to me because I feel like my life shifted for the better when I became 30 years old.  I found that I was more focused on what I want from life and started becoming more intentional with my actions.  When I was 30 I began dating Debbie, the woman who I ultimately married.  All this relates to the concept of intention.  When we pray Shacharit each morning we are setting up our day with our intentions.  To be Jewish is to be intentional in the way we move through life.  As I began caring for Debbie at 30, Judaism teaches us to be caring towards others.  One of my goals as a teacher is to shine light on the caring and intentional aspects of Judaism.
