Jamie Berman
Past President
Jamie Berman and her husband Joel have been members of Sinai Temple since 1995. For years Jamie was active at Sinai Akiba Academy, including being on its board and other committees and chair of the SAA development committee. In addition to serving on the Temple Board and numerous Board committees, Jamie has been Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Programming and Social Action, and chair of catering, nominating, and dinner dance committees.
Jamie has also served as board member and vice president of the Pacific Southwest Region of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
Jamie holds BA and MBA degrees. She is retired from her professional career, her last position being general manager of a company that manufactured electronic safes. For eleven years, beginning in college, she was a Director for United Synagogue Youth.
Jamie and Joel’s daughters Alex and Ari attended SAA, were confirmed and celebrated their b’not mitzvah at our synagogue. Alex graduated from Emory University and is currently a second-year student at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Ari graduated from Harvard College; currently she is an assistant editor at Foreign Affairs magazine in New York City.
Joel is a business transactions law partner in Century City and incoming Chair of JVS SoCal (formerly Jewish Vocational Services).
