Join us for a discussion with Professor Jerald Walker about his riveting and humorous personal essays exploring identity, family, and community through the prism of race and black culture.

The book confronts the medical profession’s racial biases, shopping while black at Whole Foods, the legacy of Michael Jackson, raising black boys, haircuts that scare white people, racial profiling, and growing up in Southside Chicago. By guiding his readers to be a good citizen and a good father and how to live and love, this book by one of America’s most acclaimed essayists will help us in our quest to better reach across the racial divide. Finalist for the 2020 National Book Award in Nonfiction.
