The Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s Israeli collection spans works from the 1920s to present day, exploring a search for an Israeli identity. The collection includes works by artists born and educated in Europe working in pre-state Israel – Reuven Rubin (1893-1974), Nahum Gutman (1898–1980) and Moshe Castel (1898–1980), established artists – Moshe Gershuni (1936-2017), Igael Tumarkin (1933-) and Nurit David (1952), to young Israeli Jewish artists – Noa Yafe (1978-) and Israeli Arab Christian artist Michael Halak (1975-), as well as emerging artists such as Merav Kamel (1988-) and Halil Balabin (1987-).
