Celebrating the Music of Sinai Temple

Benjamin Fingerhut

Benjamin Fingerhut

Music Director

Benjamin brings with him the right mix of talent, knowledge, expertise, and soul. Hailing from London with significant experience in the world of synagogue music, he adds his own musical touch to various ensembles including choir and instrumentalists to enhance music during Shabbat, festival, and High Holy Day services.  He also collaborates with the religious school and the Sinai Temple Youth Choir, working with the school to offer songwriting electives for students to explore how to set prayer to music.

He studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he honed his skills in music theory, instrumentation, and orchestration. As the musical director at Great Portland Street Synagogue in London, he served in the current Chief Rabbi’s office and was responsible for curating and directing musical programming for all of the synagogue’s services and events. This allowed him to apply his compositional knowledge in a practical setting, creating arrangements of traditional Jewish music as well as original new pieces.
