Benny Goodman: Ahead of His Time with Ken Peplowski

Explore music from legendary bandleader Benny Goodman’s famous 1938 Carnegie Hall concert, a performance which both elevated jazz and sparked serious conversations about race, politics and music. Featuring acclaimed clarinet soloist Ken Peplowski, a member of Goodman’s final ensemble, with the UCLA Jazz Orchestra and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble at UCLA. Celebrate a musical revolutionary and the King of Swing. Special performance by Cantor Marcus Feldman. A pre-concert panel discussion will begin at 6:00 pm.
