1ST GRADE TEACHING ASSISTANT

Personally, I believe the silver lining of being an educator during the pandemic is getting to see the kids’ faces every single week. Although it is for a short time, the human contact and the socialization makes me forget that our country is suffering through a pandemic. Having been stuck at home on zoom as I finish my last year in school, working at Sinai has given me a sense of normalcy and happiness added to my life. The biggest lesson I have learned through this difficult time is that I can feel fulfilled from the simple interactions I have with the kids. Seeing them fill with joy over the simplest activities and how they light up building a tower (the tower of Babel), or interacting with others, brings me the greatest joy and that’s all I can ask for. This relates to Judaism because my job, working at Sinai strengthens my relationship with the Jewish community. Every week, I am able to brighten somebody’s day by delivering packages to kid’s doors and while it may or may not make a difference in their life, for me I feel fulfilled in providing joy to others as a mitzvah.
