Jonathan Curran came to Israel at age 18 and enlisted in the IDF where he joined an elite military unit responsible for targeted strikes against Israel's enemies. After completing his 3-year mandatory service, he served in the Shabaq (Israel’s FBI) and is currently registered for miluim service. A Journey From Gaza to Israel: How Ayman Abu Sobuh Became Dor Shachar

Saturday, June 15 11:30am Ziegler Hall Dor will also speak during Shabbat Services beforehand. Dor Shachar, born Ayman Abu Sobuh in 1977, was the third son of a Muslim family in Khan Yunis, Gaza. At the age of four, witnessing a Jewish soldier putting on tefillin, he knew deep inside that he was a Jewish soul born in the wrong place. He fled to Israel at 13, declaring himself a Jew.
