7TH GRADE TEACHER
שלום (Shalom)! שמי (Shmi-My name is) Michal Morris Kamil. I am looking forward to being your Kitah Zayin מורה (Morah–teacher) this year on Wednesday afternoons! When we will first be introduced, you will note my accent, so let me share, it is a mixture of Israeli, British, New Zealand and Irish. In fact, I am probably the first Irish Lepracohen Jew you would have ever met! Having taught Hebrew, Jewish and Israel studies in most of these countries for quite a few years, the accents grew on me, as did the people and cultures of these beautiful places, and I hope you will get to visit them too some day! I am currently studying to be a Rabbi, which is simply awesome, and when we will be in class together, I’ll be happy to share why. I am sure that we have a lot in common knowing you are students who care what’s going on in this world and what your role can be to make a difference! There is so much innovation going on in Israel as well as social activism so learning spoken Hebrew IS a big part of that as it connects us to Israelis and to Jews from all over the world wanting to improve life on this planet! I leave you with a riddle as to my favorite date…I was born to a vey amusing first image of a doctor dressed up as a clown…that’s because he came straight from a P…(fill in the blank) …Party on the 15th of Adar! להתראות (Lehitraot-see you soon) in class and I look forward to a fun and meaningful year together!
