The Sandwich Generation

On Wednesday, March 21, Sinai Temple hosted a program geared towards the “Sandwich Generation,” those who are still taking care of and supporting their children, while simultaneously caring for aging parents, often with health complications. Approximately 15 Sinai Temple members joined Clinical Psychologist Dr. Francine Lederer, attorney and long-term care expert Zoran Basich, and financial planner and investment advisor Zev Fried for a candid discussion about what can become a very overwhelming and stressful undertaking. The stories of shared experiences brought comfort and connection to the diverse group of attendees. This event was held in a lovely, private Westwood home and was exclusively…

Sinai Temple Religious School Na’aseh Retreat

This past weekend, nearly eighty 5th-7th graders spent a fun-filled weekend at Camp JCA Shalom for Sinai Temple Religious School’s annual Na’aseh Retreat. Despite the clouds and rain, morale was high and students arrived in sunny spirits, ready for an activity-packed weekend of Jewish learning and connection. Students bonded in the cabins, experienced Shabbat dinner, Shabbat service and Havdlalah together, embarked upon a night hike, and enjoyed ruach-filled (spirited) singing. They learned lessons on Shomrei Adama (protecting the earth) and connected to nature. A  fan-favorite from the weekend was Robbo, the enthusiastic song leader, and the ultimate highlight was the community bonding…

Over 15 members who work in the area joined us for a “Learn & Lunch,” hosted by members and firm partners, Ron Nessim and Sharon Ben-Shahar Mayer. Rabbi Erez Sherman led a spirited discussion around the question, “Is there religion in your office?” The answers were diverse and inspired some amazing dialogue. Most importantly, the mid-day session allowed our members to pause and infuse a bit of faith into the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Sinai Temple’s “Learn & Lunch”…
