Reaching Across the Political Divide with Men’s Club


On Tuesday, February 6, Sinai Temple Men’s Club held an engaging and insightful program with David Suissa, Editor-in-Chief of The Jewish Journal, and moderated by author and temple member Rick Richman. This was as “non-political” of a discussion as possible about our political divide. The speakers emphasized the goals and aspirations we all share as Jews and citizens, regardless of party affiliations, along with ways we can come together to bridge the divide. Where in the World is Sinai Temple? We are Everywhere!


On Tuesday, February 6, Sinai Temple hosted two clergy-led “Learn & Lunch” programs, one here at Sinai Temple with Rabbi Jason Fruithandler and one at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with Rabbi Nicole Guzik. At the temple, Rabbi Fruithandler spoke to a crowd of over forty members about what it means to be Jewish and the essential cultural principles, history and traditions it encompasses for different people in different ways. Learn & Lunch in Westwood


Today Rabbi Erez Sherman was joined by a group of over 15 Sinai Temple members for a Learn & Lunch in Westwood. The membership committee invited temple members who work in the area to carve out a small portion of their day for a dose of connection, conversation and, of course, Judaism. The theme of the lunch, “Is There Religion In Your Office?,” inspired conversation about how being Jewish influences our professional work, and how our daily work helps define our Judaism. A Spoonful of Hesed


On Thursday, January 11, over 50 temple members of all ages gathered at Sinai for A Spoonful of Hesed: Making Meals for Those in Need. An initiative led by Rabbi Nicole Guzik, Sinai Sisterhood and the temple’s Social Action Committee, this group came together to cook soup and bake cookies for those in need of a little healing. Together, hundreds of carrots were peeled, veggies were sliced and pounds of batter was mixed. In addition, members got to know one another and connect.
